1973 Yellow and Black Racer
3,500 produced. based on the 1303 Super Beetle 1600. Saturn Yellow (13M) with Black (41) engine lid, bonnet; black mirrors, wipers and trim. Featured louvred front valance from US models. Leather sports steering wheel, sports seats, 5.5Jx15 sports wheels, 175/70 x 15 tires, black and yellow trimmed bumpers, reversing lights. Badged VW 1303 S.
1973 Sports Bug-Sport Beetle
This 1303 Super Beetle, came with Saturn Yellow (L13M) and or Marathon Metallic (L96M) paint, distinctive red and black 'waist' stripes, matt black trim (also Vent Grill trim used to cover vents below rear window for stripe continuity) , door handles, wipers and bumpers (these also body colour 'trimmed' with tape) and Lemmertz GT wheels. Sales brochures showed black headlamp surrounds but some cars were fitted with the standard chrome.The interior featured Recaro sourced sports bucket seats and 'leather' sports steering wheel. Dealer fitted options included the 'short throw' Formula Vee range shifter, a stereo radio and fog lamps. Engine was standard 1600 with black flare-tip exhaust pipes.
1973 Extra Bug
Swedish VW importers offered 1000 1303 S Super Beetles with 4.5J Lemmertz GT wheels, Tomato Red (30M), Lemon Yellow (15M) and Apple Green (46M) paint and a special Volkswagen FM radio with VW logos on the control knobs.
1973 Komfort Kafer
1300cc 44bhp. Ravenna Green (L65K) or Blood Orange (L21E), black cloth interior. 'Emden' radio, lockable gasoline filler cap, engine cover lock, heated rear window, rubber bumper inserts, anti-dazzle rear view mirror, reversing lights, radial tires 155 SR 15.
1303/44bhp. Ibiza Red (31M), Ischia Metallic (green, 99M), Ontario Metallic (blue, 95M) paintwork. '1303 City' side stripes. Upholstery with broad woven stripes to match body colour, loop pile carpet, inertia reel seatbelts, optional head restraints, SW/MW/LW/VHF radio, vinyl padded steering wheel, 4.5Jx15 sports wheels, engine cover lock, heated rear window, rubber bumper inserts, anti-dazzle interior mirror, reversing lights. In Germany a 'Parkscheibe' was included in the sun visor -- a small card with a dial for personally timed parking in controlled zones.
1974 Sun Bug
Available as a Standard, Super Beetle or a Convertible. Hellas Metallic paint (beige, 98C - but with some variations - also Sun Gold Metallic ), 4.5 x 15 GT sports wheels in 'gold' or bright steel, sunroof with wind deflector (Super only), rosewood finish dash panels, simulated leather sports sterring wheel, adjustable sports seats with special Nut Brown leatherette and corduroy upholstery, matching door and side panels, loop pile carpet, Kamei tunnel console, logo on gear knob and engine cover.

1303 Super Beetle Convertible edition produced by Karmann for members of the German World Cup Football Team of 1974. Cliff Green (L61A) and Black paintwork with World Cup '74 sidestripe and WM 74 symbol on rear quarter panels.
1975 La Grande Bug
'La Grande Bug. You don't drive in it, you arrive in it.' 1303 Super Beetle with either Anacona Metallic (blue, 97B) or Metallic Viper Green (98B) paintwork; for Canada also in Harvest Gold (98C). Sunroof, 4.5J Lemmertz sports GT wheels, bumpers with rubber insert, leather grained wheel, leather grained seats with cord inserts, rosewood dash, optional matching center console.
1975 Chocolate Beetle
1303 with Agate-brown Metallic (L98Z) paintwork, beige interior with cloth seats, wood dashboard trim, heated rear window. Kamei rain deflector on engine deck lid, Lemmertz GT wheels.

1976-79 Triple White Convertible
Available from 1976 through to 1979 a Triple White was the last VW Beetle Convertible ever built. Light Ivory (1976 - L80E paint; 1977 and 1978 - L90B; 1979 - L90E) with Opal (white) upholstery and Light Sand convertible top. 1977-1979 models featured factory installed whitewall tires. 1976 Bicentennial Convertible
One car made available to each VW Dealer during June 1976 celebrating the US American Revolution Bicentennial. Dash plaque with VW logo reading '1976 Limited Edition Bicentennial Convertible'. Light Sand hood. See also Triple White, New Beetle Triple White.
1977 and 1978 Champagne Convertible
An Alpine White (90B) Convertible, with a Light Sand coloured hood, black and gold stripes along the lower body, Opal (white) vinyl interior, faux burled elm dash for 1977 and faux rosewood for 1978, Lemmertz GT sports wheels and whitewall tyres. 500 produced - one for each selected US Dealer.
1978 Champagne Edition II
Revised 1977 Champagne model but with Ancona Metallic (blue, L97B) or very rare Peach Red Metallic (LE3Y) paintwork. Ermine upholstery, Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, quartz clock, faux rosewood dash trim. Top picture features Dealer optional bumper over-riders and Cyclone period accessory wheels replacing the original Lemmertz GT Sports.
1979 Epilog Convertible
The last Beetle Convertible special edition - also referred to as the 'Triple Black'. (L41) Black. One car supplied per Dealer. US specification included GT Sports wheels and whitewall tires with black VW center caps. Features similar to the 'Champagne' editions.
1980 Albar Super Käfer
Add-on front and rear Porsche style panels for the 1303 Super Beetle to make a 'Porsche-Bug'. Albar - a Swiss company owned by Alois Barmettler since 1978 - also produce bodies for Beach Buggies (imported from GP Buggies in the UK) and VW chassis based kit cars.
